We shred dense privet, woody underbrush and suitable young trees with a compact track loader and forestry mulching head. Selective passes open wooded lots, trails and fence lines while retaining marked trees. The processed wood stays on-site as mulch; buried roots remain.
Best for overgrown lots, trails and selective clearing where an on-site mulch layer fits your plans.
Shred underbrush, woody shrubs and small trees; stems up to 7 inches assessed individually.
Controlled passes around the trees you want to keep.
Mulch processed on-site; root removal and hauling are separate.
The customer wanted to open up 2 acres for a future homesite. The work shredded underbrush and suitable small trees while retaining the marked trees. Mulch remained on the ground; any root extraction, hauling or foundation preparation was a separate next step.

Our Forestry Mulching Process and Equipment
Our process uses an efficient mulching head mounted on a compact track loader to shred wood, underbrush and small to medium-sized trees, typically 5-7 inches in diameter. We work in controlled passes around marked trees, then reprocess thicker material into ground cover. Tree species, density and site conditions determine how we approach each stem.
Privet, Brush and Young Trees Around Birmingham
Chinese privet can form dense thickets beneath Birmingham-area hardwoods. Suitable pine and sweetgum regrowth can also fit the mulching scope, with stems up to 7 inches assessed individually. Privet and kudzu can return from living roots, so opening the site is different from long-term invasive-plant control.
Land Clearing Questions, Clear Answers.
Do I need a permit for land clearing in Birmingham?+
It depends on the address and work. Birmingham requires an erosion-control permit for non-exempt land disturbance; unincorporated Jefferson County uses its own process. ADEM generally requires construction stormwater coverage for disturbance of one acre or more, including smaller pieces of a larger common development. Routine maintenance and other exemptions need a scope-specific check.
Will forestry mulching remove the roots and stumps?+
A suitable mulching head can reduce exposed stumps, but mulching is not the same as extracting roots. If the area will become a driveway, barn or house pad, confirm the separate root-removal and ground-preparation requirements.
Will mowing or mulching permanently remove privet and kudzu?+
Not by itself. Mechanical work removes or shreds above-ground growth, while living roots can produce new shoots. We discuss follow-up cutting or a separate vegetation-management plan. Dense kudzu can hide holes, rocks and debris, so the work area needs inspection first.
